Advent Day 8 - Oddy Knocky

Good morning my lovely readers and welcome to second week of the WBB Advent Calendar!

Now if you haven't heard of todays roaster? Where have you been?

Oddy have been taking the industry by STORM the past few years and I'm so pleased to see it.

So who are Oddy Knocky?

"We didn’t start Oddy Knocky to blend in.

We wanted to bring something fresh, bold, and maybe a little weird to the coffee world.

Exceptional coffee, roasted by our quirky, coffee-obsessed team.

We’re the greatest roastary you’ve never heard of—but don’t worry, we’re changing that.

We make coffee for everyone - whether you're a casual sipper or at home barista. Coffee should be about enjoyment, not snobbery.

We curate our coffee offering to cater to all taste preferences and offer an ever changing roster of single origins.

We are a small team of creative and passionate weirdos who love coffee"

Now I've put in a bit of a classic of Oddy's because personally it's one of my favs, and to be honest we have a LOT of funky ass coffees coming up for the rest of the Advent.

So, the coffee.

Caramel Kush

Ethiopia

Molla is a natural coffee producing village in the highlands of Arbegona districts, Sidama which has 30 districts in total.

Molla coffee is sourced from adjacent coffee producing villages of Arbegona with an elevation above 1980 MASL from the areas surrounded by natural vegetations. The coffee cherries are obtained from out-grower farms nearby, and the processing facility is located at 1980 MASL. The coffee is sourced from small farmers who have small plots of lands ranging from 0.5 to 3 hectares from organically maintained and  frequently cultivate amid native forests.

Region: Sidama

Producers: Various Smallholders

Process: Natural

Altitude: 1980 - 2080 m.a.s.l

Varietal: Heirloom
Taste Notes: Caramel, Green Apple, Candied Almonds

Let's brew!

For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)

Now I'll start with the obvious that all three (apple, Carmel and almond) ALL come through in this brew, it's very true to its taste notes, and to be completely honest I knew my boyfriend would probably have a field day enjoying this one.

It's a super syrup-y brew, with crisp apple acidity, nutty vibes, thick body and just all around delicious.

Caramel Kush is always a firm favourite (from everyone because of course why wouldn't it be)

I wouldn't miss out on this one if you need a coffee ready for Christmas.
