Advent Day 4 - Blue Hour
Good morning/afternoon/evening, take a seat, get comfy and welcome back for another day of the WBB Advent!
Today we have Blue Hour Coffee, yet again I have a lovely little story about the men running it. Nick and Ben have been huge parts of my coffee journey, scaling back about 8 years since we all worked together in Little Lab in Winchester, not to give the boys big heads, but I owe them a lot for sparking my passion for speciality coffee (and I guess shoutout to Barista Benji for sparking that latte art passion within me, I still remember my first day in Coffee Lab where he was my hand model for a couple of coffees I'd poured, aw lovely)
Anyway, as much as I could talk about the boys for a while and how thankful I am, blah blah blah, here's some more about Blue Hour as a company
"Blue Hour is crafted for those times to take a second, appreciate life's moments, and create amazing memories through coffee. We are speciality coffee roasters, passionate about the quality and consistency of our coffee, from sourcing to roasting to brewing, the perfect cup every time. We now roast in Winchester at the Hampshire Pantry."
Shall we get into the coffee? Yes lets.

Let's Brew
For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)
If you want another recipe recommendation for this coffee, Blue Hour recommend: 16g/250g
My immediate thought was brewing this coffee was "there's no way I'm going to get parma violet notes" ... well I guess I was wrong, because as I quote from my journal "what the fuck, parma fucking violets indeed"
This coffee was super light and floral, super fruity and fresh. As it cooled, it did turn into basically drinking out of a melon, fresh and juicy, cantaloupe and almost as sweet as honeydew vibes. I can see why this is Benji's fav.
I have no other descriptor than absolutely wild when this one had cooled fully, it really gave some funk!
Want to try this coffee? Of course you do!
See you tomorrow at 8am for day 5!
