Advent Day 21 - Lucid Coffee Roasters

Good morning and welcome to day 21 of the WBB advent!

I can't believe we've only got 3 days left after this. Where has December gone?

Today we have another repeat roaster, and again a company (and roaster) that I adore! Of course I'm talking about Lucid.

Read the previous post on Lucid to learn more about them here

The coffee today is the one that was originally meant to be Lucid's debut in the calendar, however we all know I'm a sucker for a delicious Kenya (which Stephen was kind enough to include in my order) so alas, here is the Ethiopian

Ethiopia Shakisso

Gigesa G1 Natural

Producers + Mill:

This lot is sourced from Gigesa village in Ethiopia's renowned Oromia region, this exceptional coffee is cultivated by a community of 500 dedicated producers. Each of these smallholder farmers typically manages an average of one hectare of land, where they meticulously grow heirloom coffee varieties using organic practices.

This commitment to quality not only yields outstanding coffee but also plays a vital role in the economic prosperity of the region.
These farms are located between 1,850 and 2,100 m.a.s.l, the region’s altitude provide the ideal microclimate for developing the coffee's complex and distinctive flavor profile.

Let's Brew

For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)

This is definitely a fruity number indeed, definite tastes of blueberry bursting through that complexity in there, with a welcomed acidity that sits alongside those gorgeous berry notes. It reminded me of the fruity coffees I first ever tried when I was getting into speciality coffee, so it made it almost a nostalgic cup to me.
