Advent Day 18 - Routes Coffee
Hello, good morning and welcome to day 18 of the WBB Advent!
We have a new roaster today! A company that I have known for a very long time (pretty much my entire career in coffee) so it's only right that they are making an appearance in the calendar.
Who are Routes Coffee?
"Routes Coffee began when two friends returned to the UK from Australia with a newfound love for truly good coffee. Along the way home, we passed through over 30 countries, learning directly from farmers, roasters, distributors, and baristas. That hands-on experience gave us a deeper understanding of what makes coffee memorable and what’s often missing in the UK market.
Routes Coffee is proud to be the UK’s first and only Certified Regenified Coffee Roaster. We’ve built a reputation for coffee with traceable origins, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that’s as welcoming as it is intentional.
Our Regenified certification wasn’t earned overnight. It came from years of partnership with producers who care deeply about soil health, biodiversity, and community wellbeing. We’ve visited farms, shared meals, and walked fields with the people growing the coffees we love. These relationships shape how we source, roast, and share every cup.
For us, coffee with traceable origins means knowing the hands behind the harvest and ensuring they’re valued not just financially, but as part of the story. It means transparency, sustainability, and progress. However, we think it tastes bloody good!
At Routes, we believe coffee should leave a positive mark not just on your taste buds, but on the planet, the people who grow it, and the communities we serve. From seed to sip, every step matters."

Let's Brew!
For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)
I first tasted this coffee at Oxford Coffee Festival and was quite literally blown away. You know I'm a sucker for fruity coffees, and I love trying all these new ferments, so when I saw melon and peach I knew I'd be taking a bag home and that it would end up being in the calendar.
It's exactly what it says on the tin, MELON VIBES ALL ROUND. I was getting pure honeydew, that refreshing, sweet taste of melon really reminded me of those hot summer days (and I might freeze some until next summer to turn into cold brew or an iced v60 because I bet that would SLAP) I didn't want this coffee to end, however the bag disappeared very quickly (maybe a sign to order a new bag)
Try this coffee out for yourself (you don't want to miss this one)
See you tomorrow for Day 19!
