Advent Day 13 - Studio Black

Hello, good morning!

We are on day 13 of the Advent which means we are officially over half way through!!

Today we have Studio Black, who I met at LCF this year, and boy are they sweethearts.

We also have another Christmassy number with their Christmas Special!

But first, who are Studio Black?

"Born in the heart of Salford, Studio Black is a small-batch roastery founded by Callum and Tobias, two creatives from the TV and film industry. Our roasts are designed to energise the long days, tight deadlines, and big ideas that define the creative life. Perfect for early mornings on set, late-night edits, or those moments when inspiration strikes, Studio Black is coffee that keeps up."

They also have some incredible merch like the iconic "oat flat white" t-shirt, it might be a bit late to grab one for Christmas, but it's worth a check because who doesn't want amazing coffee merch for Christmas?

To the coffee!

From the volcanic slopes of Mutambu Hill in Burundi to the cloud-brushed valleys of Comayagua in Honduras, this seasonal blend brings two distinct profiles into one frame.

A washed microlot from Rosa Dimas brings silky cocoa depth, whilst Migoti's anaerobic Red Bourbon adds mulled-fruit booziness.

Altitude: 1600-1800MASL

Varieties: Red Bourbon, Gesha, Lempira, Pacamara, SL24, Yellow Catuai

Process: Anaerobic and washed

Tastes: Milk Chocolate, Truffle, Mulled Cranberry, Toffee

Let's Brew!

For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)

My immediate thoughts to tasting this coffee was, wow that's boozy!!! A proper Christmassy brew, think mulled wine kind of vibes, with a huge chocolatey finish.

Super punchy and vibrant this coffee is definitely everything it boasts on the bag, with those toffee notes coming in as it cooled more.

This is the last Christmas coffee in the calendar, and what a one to end on!!
