Advent Day 11 - Slurp Fest Exclusive
Good morning/afternoon/evening, and welcome to Day 11 of the WBB Advent.
Today we have a very special coffee, roasted by our friends over at Oddy Knocky for Slurp Fest.
If you don't know what Slurp Fest is, it is the pre-Manchester Coffee Festival celebration that brings together the incredible Northern Coffee Scene.
I knew that I had to include this in the calendar simply because of the community aspect around this brew.
One thing that I love about MCF is the community, there is no other coffee festival that brings the community together, everyone is SO lovely, its so lush to see such a beautiful community created around coffee with all the toxicity that is indeed in the coffee industry.
Slurp fest do a coffee crawl around coffee shops in Manchester just before the festival, and hold an incredible latte art comp to kick off the weekend (will next year be the year I finally compete? Probably not)
I'm also sorry to say that this coffee is not available to buy, and I got incredibly lucky to get myself a bag for the calendar at MCF.
I really feel like I found my place in the industry this year, I've always just trundled from day to day, but this year, the connections, the friends, the absolute joy I have had to be in this industry has shined through the (sometimes quite literal) shit storm of the industry.
So the coffee:
Producer: Luz Angela Rojas
Region: Colombia, Huila
Farm: Chorro Alto
Varietal: Yellow Bourbon
Process: Natural
Altitude: 1600-1850MASL
Let's Brew!
This coffee is super bright, super floral with bright berry notes coming through, I'm talking raspberry, strawberries, all the good stuff.
The floral-ness definitely comes from the acidity within the coffee, which is so welcomed and it makes it such a delicious cup of coffee.
Find Slurp Fest and get ready for the amazing stuff they're going to get up too next year.
See you tomorrow for Day 12! (how are we now half way through??!!?)
