Advent Day 1 - Grounded Coffee Roasters
AHHHHH, HELLO AND WELCOME BACK TO WITCH BITCH BARISTA FOR THE 2025 ADVENT CALENDAR SERIES!!
Over the next 24 days, there will be a new blog post at 8am with the day's coffee, showcasing some of the best roasters in the UK (and lots of very dear friends of mine)
So to start off, of course I had to pick a) a christmassy number to kick-start the month off, and b) my event mum and dads business
We all know how often I work with Grounded, I’m usually in their roastery and shop this time of year, helping them pack up their own advent calendars, but fortunately for me, they’re doing something super cool this year which doesn’t need me (fantastic news for my own advent calendar)
Grounded Coffee, created by a wonderful couple (aka my event mum and dad) Rosie and Jon (and their GORGEOUS kids, Lola and Leon) here's some more about Grounded
"It all started back in 2015 when our love for coffee led us to buy a rusty old 1976 Land Rover to restore and convert into a coffee truck, who we called Arthur. We took him to events and festivals across the south and expanded our fleet year on year!
Fast forward and we now have two Land Rover coffee trucks, two exhibition trailers and one pod trailer which we take to over 100 events each year!
We also roast all our own coffee & have two coffee shops. It's awesome to share our coffee with you all."
They also have a second company focused on Decaf, which produces some absolute bangers for those who want the coffee but not the caffeine (I'll always recommend the Guatemalan Todosantarita, pure YUM)
Shall we get into the first coffee of this years advent? Yes we absolutely should.
Day 1 - Grounded Coffee Roasters
Origin: Guatemala
Guatemala Blue Ayarza, Santa Rosa
Process: Natural
Tastes: with notes of sweet strawberry, cherry candy & creamy toffee
Lets Brew!
For all coffees when tasting I used a 18g/225g recipe, which I feel really brought out the best in so many of the coffees I picked for the calendar (if you have a physical WBB advent, you have 22.2g (of course I had to include angel numbers) to play around with)
Tastes like:
Immediately you're hit with sweet aromas when brewing, and straight away tasting you're hit with stone fruit vibes (if you're an OG WBB fan, you'll know stone fruits are my FAV)
Think sour cherries, berries and a super creamy mouthfeel.
As it cooled further, it only got sweeter, with the sweetness covering your whole mouth as you sip it. I also started getting hints of pear from the sweetness in the cup and a super syrup-like finish.
Want to try this coffee for yourself? (of course you do)
See you tomorrow at 8am for Day 2!
WBB x
PS. to Jon and Rosie, thank you for everything this year. I am so grateful to get to work with such incredible, passionate people.
